To our dedicated supporters:
As I reflect on the first half of 2009 – we are making significant progress in our mission as a faith based human services provider thanks to our employees who continue to care for those in need in rebuilding their lives and providing self- reliance dignity and independence .
Our mission is to createsustained positive life changes for individuals and families by providing high-quality human services leading to self- reliance, dignity and hope in selected communities in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Volunteers of America Chesapeake, Inc. operates our services with five core values in mind –
- Caring – we care for the individuals we serve as members of our “family” and meet the expectations of those in our care.
- Respect – we help those in need, leading them to strive for self-reliance and dignity. This respect enriches the lives of thousands that we serve each year.
- Faith – we are a faith-based organization and believe that through prayer and supplication, God supplies us the wisdom, strength and resources to shape the lives of others.
- Quality – we improve our service delivery and quality through investment in our primary asset – our staff. Through self-assessment and honesty, we continue to improve the level of our care.
- Trust -- we know that building trust in the relationships with the individuals in our care is vital to their successful outcomes to be more independent and self-reliant.
We carry these values throughout everything we do. Our vision is that Volunteers of America Chesapeake, Inc. programs result in positive development, independence, and self-sufficiency among the region's neediest individuals and families. Our legacy of continuous service and capabilities will inspire trust in our effective support of and partnership with the communities in which we work. Another way to state our vision is that it is Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s goal to help the poor, homeless, seniors, veterans, ex-offenders, intellectually and developmentally disabled and other vulnerable populations throughout the Mid Atlantic region become independent and able to care for themselves.
Thank you all for your continued support which gives the gift of hope to all that we serve.
Blessings,

Russel K. Snyder
