This supportive housing program is home to 12 adults with the diagnosis of mental retardation.  Staff work with consumers to develop person-centered program plans that concentrate on making them productive members of their community.

Many consumers are employed and participate in life skills training and human growth and development classes.  Training and program plans are developed according to each consumer's skill level and development potential.

The Baker House is a Medicaid  program operating in coordination with the City of Virginia Beach Community Services Board, who provide case management services to the residents. Volunteers of America Chesapeake began serving the mentally retarded population of Virginia Beach through Baker House in 1992.
