AfterShare Programs

Former residents of the Hilda Barg Homeless Prevention Center founded AfterShare in 1991 by serving the currently homeless at the Center. In 1992, they won the first of many awards for their work with the currently homeless and giving back to the Center and the Prince William County community.

AfterShare volunteers, under the guidance of Center staff:

  • Raise money for the Center’s Rent Fund and other needs
  • Advocate and educate others about homelessness
  • Participate in the annual Point in Time Count of the homeless for Prince William County
  • Organize a Local Mini-Walk and help sponsor Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon Program
  • Are an integral part of the Center's Advisory Network
  • Help with all holiday activities at the Center
  • Participate in the Cooperative Council of Ministry’s meals program at the Center
  • Organize distributions of food and clothing to Outreach & Prevention clients
AfterShare's mission is to encourage self-reliance, dignity and hope through the knowledge that even those who have lost much, have much to give.
