Bailey's Crossroads Hypothermia Program
With its home base at the Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter, this emergency shelter program operates seven days a week from December through March. The hypothermia program serves single adults who - in the warmer months of the year - manage to find shelter on their own, most times, outdoors. A true community effort, two local faith congregations are allowing their facilities to be used to house these individuals overnight. Volunteers of America Chesapeake works with members of the local community to provide guests with a hot evening meal, a warm, safe place to sleep each night and a bagged breakfast to take with them when they leave in the morning.
