This 88-unit affordable rental community is owned and managed by Volunteers of America Chesapeake and provides permanent housing for low-income families who qualify for Section 8 rental assistance.
Volunteers of America Chesapeake took ownership of the Eastern Avenue Apartments in 1995. Residents are provided educational training in order to prepare them for better job opportunities and long term careers. Remedial education, vocational training, crises intervention, financial investment and business management training as well as computer training are provided. These components of the program help individuals seek employment opportunities to stabilize household income and increase independence.
